Spring Cleaning And Tackling The Bathroom? Tips To Getting The Bathtub And Toilet Clean

The bathroom may be one of the rooms you hate to clean the most in your home. For this reason, you may have to put up with tackling this room when it comes to spring cleaning. The tips below will be helpful for you, because they will make cleaning easier for you. Keep reading, and you will learn how to clean your bathtub and toilet so they will sparkle.

Bathtub

Your bathtub is one of the most frequently used things in your home, especially if you have a large family. Because of constant use, your bathtub can become dirty very quickly, and stay dirty most of the time if not cleaned regularly.

If you have stuck on soap scum, there are many products on the market specifically made to remove it. If you would rather not use chemicals, you can make a natural cleaner. Put 1/4 cup of dish washing detergent into a spray bottle, and fill the rest of the bottle up with white vinegar. Put the sprayer top back on and shake the bottle to mix the ingredients. Spray the soap scum liberally and let the cleaner sit on it for a few minutes. Use a nonabrasive sponge to wipe over the area.

If your bathtub is beyond cleaning, you can make things easier by refinishing it. There are bathtub refinishing kits you can purchase at home improvement stores if you would like to do this job yourself. You can also hire a contractor like Tub Solutions Inc to refinish your bathtub for you to ensure it is done properly. When the refinish is complete, your bathtub will look new again.

Toilet

You can make your own cleaning product, if you prefer. Simply mix together equal parts of baking soda, borax, and salt. Add drops of tea tree oil until you make a paste. You can increase these ingredients if needed to make more of the product.

Before you get started, you need to get the water out of the toilet bowl. To do this, turn off the water in your bathroom and flush the toilet. Wearing gloves, wipe the paste into the toilet bowl, and then scrub it with a sponge. When you are finished, pour two cups of white vinegar into the bowl and let it sit for a couple of hours.  After this time, turn the water back on and flush the commode. If you are not sure how to turn the water on and off in your bathroom, ask a plumber to help you.

If your toilet bowl has stains that you cannot get off, such as hard water stains, you can use a pumice stone to remove them. Simply work to scrub the stains with the stone and they will come off. If you have hard water, you should do this once per week to keep the stains away.

Make sure there is no soap scum or residue from shampoo in your bathtub each time you use it. If you see any, wipe it off to keep it away. Wipe down your toilet each morning to keep it clean.
